The Strathwood Bradford All-Weather Hardwood Bar Collection is a very popular wood bar set due to its good quality, beautiful appearance and low cost. This set has received a lot of praise and is rated highly by owners. I have to say the most impressive thing about this set is the fact that it’s probably the lowest cost wooden bar set I have seen AND it is of good quality. It doesn’t get any better than that.
The Strathwood Bar Collection includes two bar chairs (sold as a pair), a round bar table (sold on its own) and two cushions for the chairs (sold as a pair in various colors to choose from). As these pieces can be bought individually, you can purchase the chairs for a table or bar you already own, or buy the whole set to have a complete matching wood bar set. It can be quite difficult to find a high wood table and chairs set, especially at this price, which made this set really stand out to me.
What is this wood bar set constructed of?
Both the bar chairs and table are made from durable all-weather Eucalyptus hardwood which is FSC certified. (This means it is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council ensuring responsible production and consumption of this wood). Eucalyptus trees grow rapidly making them more available and therefore more affordable. I like that this type of wood is earth-friendly. Eucalyptus is a beautiful hardwood which is comparable to teak. It is dense and has a high resistance to weather, rust, rot and insects, making it a very good choice for outdoor furnishings. You do not need to oil this type of wood, although a once a year treatment is recommended. Applying oil to the wood will prolong the appearance of the set, help to maintain its color and reduce cracks and splitting. If left to weather naturally it will turn a soft shade of silvery gray, similar to teak weathering which a lot of people like.
Features
Both the bar table and chairs consist of ribbed slats which are far
enough apart for rain water to simply fall through, allowing aeration. The slats are not too far apart though, the chair bottom has an even seating surface for comfort, and dishes won’t tilt or wobble on the table’s smooth even tabletop. Added features include an inbuilt footrest in the chair’s structure for an easy comfortable seating position, and an umbrella hole in the table’s center, giving you the option of adding an umbrella to the set for shelter from sun and light rain, or for decoration purposes.
All pieces have easy assembly and are lightweight enough to move around easily.
